All paths lead to Downtown Rochester...at least most of Rochester's bike paths do! Jump on the trail and head downtown to enjoy the outdoors on the Plaza, by the river, or at the park. Then, when the weather invites you, enjoy lunch on any one of downtown's outdoor patio's or lounge on Peace Plaza. You'll find Rochester's downtown to be walkable and welcoming. Drive, ride, or walk down here––you'll find lots to do in- or outside.

Art Walk

Public art is around every corner downtown. Magnificent sculptures and installations, fountains, murals...and plenty of painted geese...can be found downtown. Find your favorite!

Central Park

Green space, picnic shelters, a fountain, and the Heritage House Victorian Museum form the park that is an urban oasis near the north edge of downtown. Fresh Air Fitness, Dogs Downtown, and more call Central Park home in summer and fall, and space is available for rent for your private party, too.

Peace Plaza

Peace Plaza is Rochester's beloved outdoor community space. The Plaza hosts live music, festivals, and a myriad of events. Check the Plaza's calendar to see what's going on today, collect your friends and family, and delight in all that goes on in this vibrant space in the heart of Rochester.

Soldiers Field Memorial Park

Summer or winter, the park is part of any outdoor itinerary downtown. Soldiers Field has it all: a playground, aquatic center, golf course, tennis courts, track, picnic shelters, an impressive veteran's memorial, and more.  Grab a carry-out lunch downtown and enjoy the best of this popular park in central Rochester.

Explore by Scooter or E-bike

Explore Rochester's downtown and beyond on wheels! Download the Lime App to rent Lime Scooters & JUMP Electric Bikes seasonally. A scooter is a great way to explore downtown's architecture and public art, but when you're ready to explore farther, you'll find trails that lead to broader Rochester along the river or alongside Soldier Field Park. Grab lunch or a treat, then head for the trails!

Trail System

Rochester's 85+ miles of trails are bituminous or concrete surfaced and are beloved for their availability for physical activities such as inline-skating, biking, running, walking, and more.

Hungry? Many of downtown Rochester's restaurants have outdoor patios––open seasonally, of course. This is one of the best ways to enjoy Minnesota's glorious summers in downtown Rochester.
