Come share your thoughts and ideas about how to leverage downtown’s unique assets to enhance overall connectivity and forge a stronger relationship with the Zumbro River.

The next Riverfront Talk session topic is titled URBAN DESIGN + PROGRAMMING and will take place virtually Thursday, March 24, 2022- 6:00-7:30 PM. You can register to attend here. The five-part series will build on prior conversations about enhancing downtown Rochester’s public realm and focus in the area between Broadway and 2nd and 3rd streets.

URBAN DESIGN + PROGRAMMING

Session five brings forward themes explored in the previous four virtual sessions and formulates a series of community-based planning and design principles for the site’s evolution.

  • What are the appropriate planning principles to evaluate the site’s transformation?
  • How can the site be better activated with programs and events now?
  • Where does one begin and how will the site’s redevelopment anticipate future change?

The Riverfront Small Area Plan is a community-driven process to develop a market-supported vision for a central waterfront property. The site’s transformation will link together several civic, cultural and government assets to the heart of downtown Rochester and the Mayo Clinic. You can read more about each topic area, register to attend upcoming Riverfront Talks, watch past session recordings, and find out more about the project on the project website, which can be found here.
