What is Bike to Work (or Anywhere) Day?

Bike to Work (or Anywhere) Day in Rochester is a fun, community-focused activity that brings people together and offers employers and businesses the opportunity to encourage their new and regular cycling employees. The City of Rochester is recognizing Bike to Work (or Anywhere) Day on May 24. Free breakfast, giveaways and other bike safety gear are available to participants who visit one of several breakfast stations near downtown.

Stations are located at Mayo Memorial Park, Cascade Lake Park Picnic Area, the East Employee Ramp 34 Secure Bike Room near Saint Mary's Campus, or the Ozmun Ramp Secure Bike Room at the Downtown Mayo Clinic campus. Those interested can find more information here (https://www.rochestermn.gov/about/sustainability/active-transportation)!

Bike to Work (or Anywhere) Day doesn’t have to be just about going to and from work, which is why the City of Rochester has taken the opportunity to expand its reach by adding “Anywhere” to the event event name. Whether you work at home, in the office, are retired, or between jobs, you can still get on your bike and ride anywhere. Biking for travel is free, fun, and open to everyone.

Bike to Work (or Anywhere) Day Goals:
1. Encourage the habit of biking as part of a daily, healthy lifestyle
2. Encourage and celebrate new bicycle commuters: make it easy and fun to start bike commuting
3. Celebrate alongside fellow bicycle commuters
4. Strengthen Rochester-area bicycling culture
5. Highlight and partner with local businesses
