Park the Arts is a city-wide project created to connect neighborhoods and develop a sense of community through exposure to quality arts programming. The event is free, family-friendly and open to the community. Rain date is Sunday, July 11. Bring a chair, blanket, refreshments and enjoy an afternoon of entertainment by Swing Street- a 17 piece Rochester-based jazz band performing and celebrating for over 20 years the "Big Band: sound of artists from a popular and well-loved musical era.
The Greater Rochester Arts and Cultural Trust, RNeighbors and the City of Rochester Parks and Recreation Dept are partnering with Rochester Downtown Alliance (Park the Arts is funded in part by a Start-Up Event Grant from the RDA), the Carl and Verna Schmidt Foundation, Charter House and the Southeastern MN Arts Council (SEMAC activities are made possible by the voters through grants from the MN State Arts Board thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund) to provide this event.
