Details

St. Paul singer-songwriter Joe Carey has been active in the greater MN music scene for over two decades. His style is best described as soulful roots rock with a hint of Irish folk and a twist of old country twang. Some may remember his work in the early 2000's with the pop rock outfit Loft, followed by Nick Hensley’s Love Songs For Angry Men and his ongoing tenure with sibling group The Careys. To date, Joe has released five full albums, countless singles, and has produced or appeared on several recordings by other artists. The Current calls Carey’s music "stylistically diverse, but big and bold from start to finish". And as the Onion's A.V. Club put it, "Carey plays vocal-driven, guitar-heavy stuff reminiscent of what would happen if The Black Crowes played a friend’s barbecue".

Music on the Plaza brings live music to the Peace Plaza, encouraging passers by to enjoy the music of local artists over weekday lunch and happy hours, and Friday night concerts on the Kahler Grand Hotel stage.

This program is presented by Rochester Downtown Alliance with support from Mayo Clinic and Winona State University, Rochester. The series is coordinated by John Sievers and Threshold Arts.
