23 ensembles (19 from Minnesota. 3 from South Dakota and 1 from Wisconsin) will perform their shows that creatively combine music, choreography, and storytelling at the Mayo Civic Center on April 5, 2025 at Minnesota Percussion Association (MPA) Championships.
Indoor drumlines consist of both the marching percussion (or battery) and front ensemble (pit or frontline) sections and create unique shows that blend musical performance with theatrical elements and marching techniques. Indoor drumline is often referred to as "percussion theater" because it combines music performance, marching, and theater.
Indoor winds is a competitive activity for small marching music ensembles, distinct from field bands or marching bands, that take advantage of marching horns, woodwinds, rhythm sections, and a pit ensemble but not a full drumline or color guard. These ensembles primarily feature brass and woodwind instruments, but can include a variety of instrumentation.
Several of these groups, including Rochester Lourdes, will continue their season by performing at WGI Sport of the Arts Percussion or Winds Finals in Dayton, OH from April 10-13.
