The Intercultural Mutual Assistance Association (IMAA) was founded in 1984 with the goal to empower new immigrants and refugees to develop and lead self-help programs for the benefit of their communities. As the IMAA website notes, "Refugees and immigrants arrive in Rochester from many different countries around the world including Somalia, Syria, Ethiopia, Sudan, Burma, Bhutan, and Iraq. They have demonstrated strength, perseverance, resourcefulness, and courage in the face of remarkable hardships and challenges." This discussion will explore the historic trend of immigrations, discuss the difference between immigrant and refugee, and more. This program is offered both in person and virtually, so be sure to choose the ticket that fits you best.
