Wednesday night class series with Nicole Havekost
February 22, March 1 and March 8 | 6:00 – 8:00 PM

Make your own mini felt figure over 3 nights! Learn to use a simple wire armature, in much the same way that Havekost uses galvanized steel pipe to create the skeletons for her sculptures. Build the form out from this armature with simple materials and use needle and thread to shape a wool felt “skin” around the form. Simple wire wrapping and hand sewing techniques will be utilized in the making of this piece. No previous experience necessary. This could be the beginning of an exploration of soft sculptural forms using a variety of fabrics and materials, textures and shapes! I hope you will join us!
Materials provided during the workshop: wire, wire cutters and benders, paper, wool felt, needle, variety of thread colors, and scissors. You will leave the workshop with a small sculpture and materials list should you wish to continue this exploration.
