Taught by Margit Johnson, an embroidery, knitting, and textile enthusiast, as well as a participant in The Embroidery Project, this workshop will offer step-by-step guidance using stem, chain, blanket, satin, feather stitches, and more. Learn for the first time or advance your embroidery and embellished mending skills on a cotton dish towel and/or your favorite but worn jeans or sweater.

About the Instructor:

Margit Johnson grew up in Minneapolis with a mother and two grandmothers who were accomplished embroiderers. While her professional life has focused on environmental issues and college-level intercultural studies, she has filled her spare moments with portable knitting, embroidery, and quilting projects. She has shared her enthusiasm for textile arts with children and adults, much as her own mother and grandmothers taught her. Margit calls Northfield her home, living in an old house with a large garden, a woodshed, and a chicken coop on a narrow city lot.
