Learn about the art of personal style and fashion sketching from local fashion designer Brooke Burch. In this workshop, you will create a “vision board” collage using mixed media to express your personal style and create clothing sketches based around your vision. The instructor-led activities will touch on several foundational concepts of fashion and design such as color, texture, line, and proportion. No technical drawing experience is necessary, just a willingness to have fun. You will walk away from this workshop with your own vision board, fashion sketches, and a new found sense of self!
Instructor Bio | Brooke Burch
“I was born in Charlotte, NC in 1989. I have lived in Rochester, MN since I was 3 years old. I had an interest in fashion and art from the early age of 5. I sewed by hand as a child and my grandmother taught me how to use my first machine at age 11. I was a member of 4H, played clarinet in the Mayo High school marching, pep, and concert bands, was a student in the RCTC- Upward Bound Program, took Post-Secondary classes, and was Art Club President while in grade school.
In fall of 2007, I started studying at the University of Wisconsin- Stout. While there, I served on the Student Senate, was in the concert and pep band, and was President and member of the Black Student Union. I had the opportunity to complete an internship in New York City and study fashion abroad in London, England at AIU-American Intercontinental University, while in college. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Apparel Design and Manufacturing in Spring of 2012.
I had my son, Teigen, in Summer of 2014. He is my joy and greatest inspiration. I have been operating my custom sewing and alterations business full time since 2015. I love the process of design and I am lucky to be able to do what I love for a living.”
Brooke Burch is the owner of Brooke Burch Custom Sewing and Alterations
