Rochester community members who self-identify as BIPOC, including those claiming multi-racial identities, are invited to participate in Counterspaces, a collective healing and empowerment project. Rochester community members who have been impacted by acts of racialized violence against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) and Black and other People of Color (BIPOC) will have an opportunity to share their stories through poetry and visual art. The workshop will be held in a socially distanced fashion on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at the Rochester Art Center.

Dr. Angie Mejia (sociologist) and Yuko Taniguchi (poet) will provide a dedicated space for participants to connect and share their stories, thoughts, and feelings through creative prompts. Participants will have the opportunity to share their artwork and poems displayed at the Rochester Art Center in the fall of 2021.

Space is limited due to size and space availability, so please sign up via the form below before August 28, 2021. Please contact info@rochesterartcenter.org if there are any questions.
