Local poets will share a favorite poem that embodies light, joy, or hope—written by poet they admire—followed by a poem or two of their own. “Bright Lights” encourages us to celebrate light and the connections we have with each other at a gathering meant to express the warmth of our community during the depth of winter.
Featured SEMN Poets:
Pam Sinicrope, John Hamel, Orval Lund, Christina Flaugher, Samuel Hawkins, Anne Owen Shea, Lisa Higgs, Steve Vogel, Delta Eddy, Ken McCullough, David Kujawa, Jean Prokott
Reading their own work and "Bright Light" poems by: Danusha Lameris, Joy Harjo, Jane Kenyon, Li-Young Lee, John Greenleaf Whittier, William Shakespeare, Pablo Neruda, Yosa Buson, Matsuo Basho, Priest Issa, James Wright and others.
Rochester Poet Laureate Susan McMillan will host this family-friendly event, which will last approximately one hour. Absolute Theater will have beer, wine, and soft drinks available for purchase.
