PossAbilities will once again embrace disabilities during a memorable evening of dining, fundraising and valuable stories at its annual gala, A Night of PossAbilities. The cocktail attire event is set for Friday, September 22nd, at the Hilton Rochester Mayo Clinic Area, Fourth Floor Ballroom.

This year’s guest speaker is Lorna Schunke, one of the co-founders of PossAbilities. In the early 1960’s, Lorna and two other mothers were looking for community opportunities for their children with disabilities. Together they would be the leaders in creating a small school for their children which eventually became part of one of the first piloted Day Activity Centers (DAC) in the state of Minnesota. In 1996, PossAbilities of Southern Minnesota became the official name of the agency. To this day, Lorna’s daughter, Cheryl, still attends PossAbilities programs.

Lorna’s is one of many stories you will hear throughout the evening at A Night of PossAbilities. Doors open at 5:30pm with dinner being served around 6:30pm. Tickets go on sale August 1st through September 15th at www.PossAbilities.org/events or call 507.281.6116.
