Will you walk for awareness?

If you have been down to Thursday’s on First and 3rd this year, you know how great some of our vendors are, but this year we want to take the time to highlight a few of the organizations that help make this event possible. Throughout the rest of the summer we will be using our blog and social media accounts to introduce some of our fantastic partners.

This partner has been in the Rochester community for almost 20 years and is truly making a different. They host annual walks to raise money and awareness, they also offer free seizure response trainings to the community. Join the Epilepsy Foundation of MN on August 3rd at the Eagles Club from 5PM to 8:30PM for their annual Rise Above Seizure’s Walk!

About The Epilepsy Foundation of MN

The Epilepsy Foundation of MN leads the fight to overcome the challenges of living with epilepsy and to accelerate therapies to stop seizures, find cures and save lives. The Foundation envisions a world where people with seizures realize their full potential. The Epilepsy Foundation of MN has been around since 1954 and within 45 years they expanded their reach and brought their first staff person to Rochester, MN in 1999. The year of 1999 was not only a time of expansion, but the inaugural year of the Rise Above Seizure’s Walk.  This year’s annual Rise Above Seizure’s Walk, which raises money and awareness for people with epilepsy, is coming to Rochester on August 3rd at the Eagles Club. This year’s walk will have fun activities such as a Doctor Dunk Tank, a live DJ, a moon walk, and much more! It’s an event you don’t want to miss, click here (insert link) to view The Epilepsy Foundation of MN Facebook Page or go to www.EpilepsyFoundationMN.org for more information and to get registered.

Other Ways The Epilepsy Foundation of MN is Giving Back

The Epilepsy Foundation of MN is continuing their efforts to educate all schools in Minnesota and to spread awareness about epilepsy. In January 2018, they will also begin a new Bridge to Independence fund for those with epilepsy who are experiencing a hardship. The Epilepsy Foundation of MN offers free seizure response trainings for everyone in the community. The goal is to provide training and education for all individuals because they know the importance of being aware of how to respond and assist someone having a seizure. They also have a program called Seizure Smart Schools with which they partner with area schools to educate staff, students, and school nurses on seizure response and recognition.

If you are interested in a free seizure response training, please contact Emily Gomez at 507.287.2103 or email her at egomez@efmn.org.
