Previewing "Shrek": Movies in the Park August 28

"Shrek" August 28 is the final film of the 2021 Movies in the Park season presented by the Rochester Downtown Alliance and Altra Federal Credit Union. Not only is it the Kids' Choice film, it's also the 20th anniversary of the movie! What better way to wrap up the summer than with an outdoor movie, themed activities, and movie-inspired beverages and snacks. Check out what's being planned for Movies in the Park: "Shrek" August 28!

***ALERT: For those attending Movies in the Park: Shrek tonight: Because of the chance of rain/thunderstorms before and right after the event, "Shrek" will be moved indoors to the historic Chateau Theatre. Please check your email for details.

About "Shrek"

Shrek is an ogre who likes the solitude of his swamp. When fairy creatures are exiled in it by the evil Lord Farquaad, he starts off on a quest to rescue his home and ends up entangled in Farquaad's mission to take Princess Fiona as his bride. With the help of his loyal "companion" Donkey, Shrek must free the princess from the tower and learns about friendship and love on his journey. "Shrek" is rated PG.

Great and noble quest activities

No princess rescuing here, though Movies in the Park will include some other epic activities like Neon Green Studio Pop-Up Art Cart featuring a themed craft! To welcome you to Movies in the Park, snap a selfie in themed photo booth with your family or friends like Shrek and Donkey did when they entered Duloc! And don't forget the castle bounce house and lawn games!

No weed rat stew or fisheye tartare here

Our stalwart friends— Carroll's Corn and Café Steam—have been on a whirlwind adventure with us throughout the Movies in the Park season by offering you, our guests, salty freshly popped popcorn and sweet, tasty movie-inspired coffee beverages. Remember to bring your Movies branded bucket for a $5 refill from Carroll's Corn and stop by Café Steam's booth for a delicious coffee. A new friend is joining us for the final movie: The Cookie Cupboard will have fresh chocolate chip cookies (while not gingerbread, who wanted to eat Gingy, anyway?!).
